Passenger Comments Letters From: Jean Thomassen Dear Johan
Dear Johan, This was my third tour with JB tours since August this year and I want to tell you that I've thoroughly enjoyed each and every tour. Your organisation, the administration and your guides are all to be commended - especially how they deal with situations that test them. The first tour to Namakwaland (NF#7) was fantastic. Tjokkie and the bus driver, Richard, were the perfect guides to have. There was caring for the group, they constantly went out of their way to show us even more than what was expected. Found some elusive flowers, knew their area so well. Great photos, new friends and fond memories are reminders of a well organised and most enjoyable tour. The second tour was to Namibia with Ollie, Joepie and Delene. A much bigger crowd, longer distances, beautiful sights and people, experience of staying on a train and again wonderful photo opportunities. The meals were excellent. The boat ride to the island for a lunch with oysters and champagne, the experience of the seals jumping on the boats, the pelicans coming when called was certainly the highlight of this wonderful tour for me. My third tour was with your excellent guide Kobus and driver, Kallie? (my friend thought his name was Willie and therefore the question mark), to the Cherry Festival. This was a stress free, relaxed tour with wonderful people to a beautiful part of our country. Again much laughter and the joy of experiencing the festival and seeing the process of cherry farming, picking and packing. Spending some time in Clarens was great after our drive through the Golden Gate Nature Reserve, even though it was raining we still experienced the wonder of those beautiful mountains. Having made up some time on our return Kobus took us to see the Ferreira Mine Stope in the Standard Bank building in Johannesburg CBD. Amazing! I'm sure very few people (other than Standard Bank staff) know about this little piece of history that has been preserved. I've spent most of my holidays travelling overseas and am so excited to have discovered the joy of travelling through our own country with great people. I now have 3 yellow backpacks and look forward to adding to them - starting with your new Garden Route tour next year! (What about a 'green number' (bag) after a 10th holiday with JB tours?) Kind regards, From: Gallagher, Mike Good morning Johan This is just a short note to thank you & your cpy - especially to Mauritius & oom Piet - this was a GREAT trip, worth every cent & I will highly recommend it to all my friends! Both Mauritius & oom Piet did a fantastic job, always looking after our road safety as well as to all our needs on the entire trip! You will definitely see me again, this time I will try get both my sons to join in! A colleague of mine (Johan du Toit & friends) has already indicated that he wants to go on the Sept trip Thanks & good luck with all your other ventures! PS: let me know when you have an Eastern Cape/Garden Route run! Mike Gallagher
From: Bruno Myself plus my brother and his son from Switzerland travelled on your Tour "7Prov 1" departing 12. Feb. from JHB, and left the tour in Cape Town after staying in the Fountain Hotel. My brother forget his jacket with his Swiss Passport and his cell phone in the hotel. Kobus telephoned my wife who then telephoned me, and we were able to collect the missing items at the hotel. Thank you Kobus, with your kind help we were able to avoid the large effort which would have been required to obtain especially a replacement Swiss Passport. We all enjoyed the tour, and thank you to make it an experience to remember. With best regards
Sent: 31 March 2008 09:45 AM Dear Johan A brief report back on our recent tour : We arrived at Ladysmith station in pouring rain. Our concerns that this might be a bad omen were soon put to rest when the rain stopped and the train arrived on time and 35 excited pupils and teachers boarded the train for the start of an adventure. After a great train trip, a first for the majority of the pupils, we arrived at Cape Town station 30 minutes ahead of schedule to be met by your representative and the Elwierda bus waiting for our next leg. The trip to Stellenbosch went a lot quicker than anticipated and we arrived just after 08:00 which gave us plenty of time to settle in and prepare for the heavy week which lay ahead. After 5 days of intense training our pupils (and teachers) were ready for a break and once again your organisation did not let us down. The bus arrived at our residence half an hour ahead of schedule on Friday morning and proceeded to take us on a wonderful days outing in Cape Town where we managed to go to the top of Table Mountain, have a swim at Camps Bay (only the brave ones!), take a boat ride to Seal island at Hout Bay and finally spent a few hours at Ratanga Junction / Canal Walk before returning for the last night in Stellenbosch. The bus was again very early on Saturday morning which allowed us to load the bus and get away in time to book in early at the airport without the stress of rushing and panicking! A total of 77 items of luggage were clocked in and all items were received at Durban airport ! Kulula were great and very helplful. All in all a great trip made that much more enjoyable by the punctuality of all pre arranged outings. A BIG thank you to all at JB Tours, Elwierda and Kulula for making it so special. We will definitely recommend your company to other schools and hopefully be able to make use of your services in the near future.

ANDREW AND BARBARA WILSON Motorbike-on Train Tour December 2007 16 January 2008
Dear Johan and the whole JB Tours team, The 28th of December 2007 is just another date in history – but a day that will stay in our memories for a very long time to come! Being the parents of “grown up kids” all having their own holiday agendas and plans left us with that empty nest feeling – and plenty of time on our hands to do exactly as we pleased – what a pleasure! Sitting in the kitchen very early one Saturday morning in November I by chance picked up the CitiBike supplement (something I would never do under normal circumstances) and started reading about the Western Cape Motorbike-on-Train trip. It sounded like just the kind of trip that would fit into firstly our schedule, and secondly our budget. Discussion with the hubby led straight to a “lets do it” – and the rest is all fabulous memories. Your advertising material insisted you leave all your moans, groans, stress and worries behind you and enjoy the beauty and splendour of surely the best country on this planet! This is exactly what we promised ourselves we were going to do – and we did! We approached every single experience with an open mind – starting with the train - and embraced each day’s experiences wholeheartedly. Meeting new people was one of our objectives in undertaking this tour, and we have achieved this. From the get-go we felt at home, relaxed and immediately struck up new friendships with some really fantastic people with whom we have kept in contact. Each day’s rides brought us new experiences, revealed hidden secrets and took us past, through and into breathtakingly beautiful locations. The scope and contrast of the scenery we were privileged to experience is too awesome to comprehend. We as South Africans have much to be proud of – and grateful for. Every single true “biker” out there needs to do those routes and experience first hand what we did. On a more personal note – thank you Johan for a wonderful afternoon spent with you and Lenie and Piet after leaving Hout Bay on day three. Thanks for taking me to see “Lichtenstein” – up as close as possible – the place fascinated me. Thanks for stopping at the “cat” outside the vet’s rooms – we have the most beautiful picture!. The Bo-Kaap and Signal Hill, the harbour – getting up close to the oil rigs - and all the interesting facts you shared with us that day will long be remembered. Andy and I were so impressed by every aspect of this tour and will definitely do another one with you in the future. We wish you well, and much success with all your trips and will long remember this wonderful experience. Best wishes and kind regards to all, BARBIE AND ANDY WILSON
