JB Train Tours invites you to join us on our annual holiday train tours in 2011 to Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. This is a short, safe and secure tour for families with children, individuals, couples, groups and teams and we’d like to give you the opportunity to visit PE and enjoy the warm sea waters of the Indian Ocean. Children can enjoy a ‘real sea holiday’ by train, travelling through the scenic mountain passes en route to PE. Just like in the olden days!

The tour is scheduled over a weekend to enable you to take only two days leave and enjoy PE to the full. There is time available to have fun, participate in activities, relax and swim. You can build sand castles, kick balls or just sit and watch the ocean. Go & discover PE.

In PE you’ll have the opportunity to explore Bay World, the beach, craft shops, etc. and/or pay a visit to the Boardwalk casino & spectacular new Nelson Mandela Bay Soccer stadium.

Your accommodation is in an upmarket hotel in PE, close to the beach. If you’ve never been to PE or would like to visit the Friendly City again, this is an opportunity.

The tour is a combination of: Travelling by train; enjoying PE (at a very affordable & budget rate); sleeping in a top hotel with sea view with lots of facilities; enjoying the beach and sea, visiting the popular tourist destinations and night clubs or just relax.

Are you tired of driving, looking for accommodation and worrying about the logistics? We’ll take you there. When travelling by train, you don’t have to worry about increasing petrol prices, getting lost, tollgate fees, heavy traffic, driving back or sitting in your car. It is so much easier and VERY price competitive.

Any person who is interested in visiting PE and surroundings may travel along.

This tour is most suitable for those people who’d like to take a quick break from work; for people who has never been to the sea or older people who needs an ‘escape’ or break from the city’s fast life, as well as school groups, churches and clubs.

This tour was launched in August 2010 after the Trans Natal Tourist class train between Jo’burg and Durban was permanently stopped by Shosholoza Meyl.

Children

Children ages 2 - 9 pay R300pp less than the above price – sharing accommodation. Children younger than 2 years of age sharing a bed with the parent travel free of charge.

Deposit

A R500 per person non-refundable deposit will secure your place. The balance must be paid by latest six weeks before departure date. If NOT paid, your place will be cancelled automatically.

Note

Passengers may pay a monthly instalment and then pay the last payment six weeks before departure date.

Included in price

Return trip by train to PE, 2 nights’ accommodation and bedding on the train, 2 night’s B&B accommodation in an upmarket Hotel in PE, transport to the hotel & back to the station, tour guide, as well as certain meals are included in the tour price.

Meals

Two breakfasts and two dinners on the train, plus two breakfasts at the hotel, are included in the tour price. All other (tasty) meals are available at very reasonable prices on the train and in PE.

Excluded from the tour price

Entry fees at tourist destinations not mentioned, expenses of a personal nature. Comprehensive Travel Insurance, gratuities & meals not mentioned.

Excursions in PE

No formal excursions or other bus transport in PE are included in the tour package.

Route

You will travel on the Algoa Tourist Class Train from Johannesburg to PE via Kroonstad, Bloemfontein, Cradock & back.

Accommodation

Passengers will be accommodated for one night in the Chapman Hotel (www.chapman.co.za) ‘on’ PE’s Beach Road, close to the beach. The rooms are spacious with good facilities.

This is a casual holiday train tour. It is ideal for families; those who haven’t been on a train holiday or haven’t visited PE, at a rate not to be repeated.
