This is a short, safe and secure tour for families with children and we’d like to give you the opportunity to visit Durban and enjoy the warm sea waters of the Indian Ocean. Children can enjoy a ‘real sea holiday’ by train, travelling through the scenic mountain passes and many tunnels en route from Durban. Just like in the olden days!

This tour is scheduled during peak season to ensure that you can enjoy Durban and its vibe in summer season to the full. There is time available to have fun, participate in activities, relax and swim. You can build sand castles, kick balls or just sit and watch the ocean.

In Durban you’ll have the opportunity to explore the Marine Parade, uShaka Marine World, Mini Town, the beach, craft shops, etc. and/or pay a visit to the Sun Coast casino & spectacular Moses Mabhida Soccer stadium.

Your accommodation is in an upmarket hotel in Durban, right on the beach front, on the ‘Golden Mile’. If you’ve never been to Durban or would like to visit the Holiday City again, this is a golden opportunity.

Children

Children ages 2 - 9 years pay R440pp less than the above price – sharing accommodation. Younger children sharing a bed with the parent will travel free of charge.

Deposit

A R500 per person non-refundable deposit will secure your place. The balance must be paid by latest six weeks before departure date. If NOT paid, your place will be cancelled automatically.

Included in price

One way trip on luxury bus from Jo’burg to Durban, one nights’ accommodation and bedding on the train, four night’s B&B accommodation in an upmarket Hotel in Durban, transport to the station & single trip by train to Johannesburg, tour guide, as well as certain meals are included in the tour price.

Meals

Two breakfasts and two dinners are included in the tour price. All other (tasty) meals are available at very reasonable prices on the train and in Durban.

Excluded from the tour price

Entry fees to tourist destinations & meals not mentioned in the itinerary, expenses of a personal nature, gratuities & Comprehensive Travel Insurance.

Excursions in Durban

No formal excursions or other bus transport in Durban are included in the tour package.

Route

You will travel on the Trans Natal Tourist Class Train from Durban to Jo’burg via Pietermaritzburg & Newcastle. Transport from Jo’burg to your home base is for your own arrangements.

The coach will follow the N3 route to Durban.

Accommodation

Passengers will be accommodated for one night in the 4 star Tropicana Hotel (http://www.tropicana-hotel.co.za/) on Durban’s Marine Parade, right opposite the beach. The rooms are spacious with good facilities.

Life guards are on duty on the beach 7 days per week.

This is a casual holiday train tour. It is ideal for families; those who haven’t been on a train holiday or haven’t visited Durban, at a rate not to be repeated.
