These four tours were organised in quick time in October 2011 due to the fact that all our train tours to Cape Town were fully booked, public demand and the fact that Shosholoza Meyl has availed one extra train per week from Jo’burg to CPT.

People from all over the ‘Northern’ parts of South Africa travel to Jo’burg to go on this tour.

This tour is a combination of: travelling by train; enjoying Cape Town at a very affordable rate, sleeping in a top hotel with a swimming pool and other facilities; enjoying the beach and sea, visiting the most popular tourist destinations in Cape Town; or just relax. This REAL value for money.

Are you tired of driving, looking for accommodation and worrying about the logistics? We’ll take you there. Children

Children ages 2 – 11 pay the above 'Child' prices. Younger children, sharing a bed with parent, will travel free of charge.

Deposit

A R500 per person non-refundable deposit will secure your place. The balance must be paid by latest six weeks before departure date. If NOT paid, your place will be cancelled automatically.

Included in price

Return transport by Tourist Class train to Cape Town, 2 nights’ accommodation and bedding on the train, 8 nights B&B accommodation in a top hotel in Cape Town, 4 x day-tickets on the Topless bus in CPT, tour guide, as well as certain meals, are included in the tour price

Meals

A daily breakfast and two suppers are included in the tour price. All other (tasty) meals are available at very reasonable prices on the train and in Cape Town.

Excluded from the tour price

Entry fees at tourist destinations: I.e.: Table Mountain, Robben Island, etc. personal expenses, meals not mentioned, gratuities and Comprehensive Travel Insurance.

Note

It is highly recommended that passengers book their places on the Robben Island trip well in advance. It does happen very often that these trips are fully booked – especially in December annually.

Route

You will travel on the Trans Karoo Tourist Class Train from Johannesburg to Cape Town via Krugersdorp, Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp, Kimberley, De Aar, Beaufort West and Worcester. Passengers may embark or dis-embark at any point en route. Please indicate on your Reservation Form.

Accommodation

Passengers will be accommodated for eight nights in a top 4-star hotel in CBD Cape Town. The rooms are spacious, with good facilities, (I.e.: Gym, pool, sauna, terrace, restaurant, cocktail bar, TV in the room, en-suite bathroom, etc.) and the hotel is well located in town. www.leisurehotels.co.za

Bus transport in Cape Town

Each passenger will receive 4 x Day-passes on the Topless bus www.citysightseeing.co.za in CPT. This bus runs in a circular route every 20 minutes and takes passengers to the well known tourist destinations in and around CPT. It is a Hop-on Hop-off bus. The circuit takes about 90 minutes to complete and the buses run from 09:00 to 18:00 daily.

The routes go to places like: Hout Bay, Camps Bay, Kirstenbosch, V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain, Castle of Good Hope, Sea Point, District 6, Parliament and much more.

Notes

This is a casual holiday train tour. It is ideal for families; those who haven’t been on a train holiday or haven’t visited Cape Town before, at a rate not to be repeated.
